Newman Swamp Rats

About Us

The Newman Swamp Rats is a membership club and is also open to the general public. The club was first established in 1933 and is a California nonprofit corporation. The club’s range consists of five trap fields equipped with Pat Trap machines and Canterbury voice-activated target release systems. The club hosts various trapshooting tournaments, both registered and leagues throughout the year. For more information on the various associations related to registered and leagues, just go to the Links page.

The club was known first by the name of "Swamp Rats Blue Rock Club." Later on in the mid 1950's the Blue Rock Club formed the "Westside Pistol & Rifle Club" as part of the facilities bringing into the clubhouse bullet traps for rifle and pistol shooting. The pistol and rifle club later disbanded in the early 1970's making the Newman Swamp Rats strictly a trapshooting range. The clubhouse, which is a log-style building built in 1953 is still in existence today.

Hours of Operation

The hours of operation are Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. until approximately noon, and Saturdays at noon until about 4:00 p.m. The club is not always open to the general public on Saturdays when it is hosting registered or league shoots.
